Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the ways in which organizations manage and monitor employee performance. The implementation of digital monitoring systems that utilize software, sensors, and connected devices has become increasingly widespread, enabling real-time tracking of employee activities, productivity, and attendance. While these systems offer benefits such as improved efficiency and accuracy in data collection, their application also raises concerns related to psychological aspects and work behavior. This study aims to analyze the impact of digital monitoring on employee work autonomy and professional responsibility. The method employed is a literature review that examines relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that the impact of digital monitoring is dual in nature: appropriate implementation can enhance professional responsibility, whereas excessive or misaligned application may reduce work autonomy and generate other negative consequences. The main conclusion of this study is that the effectiveness of digital monitoring systems depends largely on how they are implemented and on employee perceptions of the system’s intended purpose. This study contributes to the development of human resource management theory and provides practical guidance for organizations in applying balanced and sustainable digital monitoring systems.
