Advances in technology and changes in workforce characteristics have encouraged organizations to seek more engaging and effective learning methods to enhance employee competencies. Gamification, as an approach that integrates game elements into non-game contexts, has been increasingly adopted in human resource development programs. Although this approach has proven effective in enhancing motivation and participant engagement, concerns remain that its emphasis on individual achievement and competition may erode values of cooperation and empathy, which are essential for successful teamwork. This study aims to analyze how gamification-based learning can be designed and implemented to preserve and even strengthen cooperation and empathy among employees. The method employed is a literature review that examines relevant scholarly sources. The findings indicate that well-designed gamification with emphasis on collaborative elements, social support, and reflection can create learning environments that are not only engaging but also reinforce interpersonal relationships among employees. The main conclusion of this study is that balancing competition and cooperation is a key factor in ensuring that gamification provides optimal benefits without negative consequences for interpersonal relations. This study contributes to the development of organizational learning theory and offers practical guidance for organizations in designing sustainable learning programs oriented toward the social and emotional development of employees.
